What kind of jobs are available for students?

Many different types of positions are available on-campus in a wide range of choices from office positions, grounds crew, custodial, food court, library assistant, lab/TA, tutoring, and others.

How can I find out what jobs are available?

Log onto Handshake or stop into the Career Center in Cowan Hall 213.

What are the hourly salaries?

Minimum wage rate is $10.30/hour, but some jobs start out higher.

What procedures do I follow for on-campus student employment and payment?

Please allow up to seven days to process appropriate paper work. If this time line is not followed, Northern cannot guarantee a paycheck.

  • Log onto Handshake or stop into the Career Center in Cowan Hall 213, to see what is available.
  • Arrange to talk to potential employers. You will need to give them a resume or Student Employment Application.
  • Once selected for a position, go to Human Resources, Cowan Hall 206 or 208, to fill out appropriate paperwork. This needs to be done in order to get paid.
