If you receive an email you believe is a phishing attempt that targets MSUN in any way (e.g., Uses MSUN or MSU branding, asks you to provide personal or other types of private information, asks you to click on a link and enter your username and password, etc), report the email to helpdesk@msun.edu

Security Notes:

  • Important information regarding security will come directly from ITS staff email addresses.  There is no IT@msun.edu, or other similar "generic" email addresses. The Help Desk email is not used to disseminate information or request users take action.
  • Our Office 365 email system re-writes links included in email so that they start with something like "https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?".  This does NOT mean a link is safe, merely that it has been checked against  known malicious sites. So when hovering over a link to check where it goes, the real destination starts after "https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?" and begins with "url=". Example: https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https://www.google.com...  You can also use an online service such as https://wheregoes.com to find where a link actually goes.
